Access Medical/Med Plus History
Dr. Richard Snyder, of West Virginia joined the Air Force after graduating from West Virginia University. Fortunate for the Grand Strand, he got stationed at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. He started moonlighting along the Grand Strand and surrounding areas. He decided to make North Myrtle Beach his home and opened Access Medical Center in 1987.
Jeri McDowell, who grew up near the beach, joined his team in 1992 and would later become office manager and aid in his expansion to Myrtle Beach. Dr. James Turek, originally from Michigan, was also in the Air Force and was stationed at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. He came to work at Access Medical in 1994 for a short time and went on to open his own practice, Med Plus, in Garden City.
In 2003, Dr Snyder decided he was ready to retire and spend some quality time with his family. Jeri and Dr. Turek found this to be the perfect opportunity to join forces and combine the two offices. There are now three locations to serve our area: Med Plus in Garden City, Access Medical Center in North Myrtle Beach and Loris. These offices offer convenient, quality medical care in a professional and caring environment. Our hope is to make every visit feel warm and friendly so that you will always choose us for your medical needs.
